Cat (aka Cathy) : "My inspiration began from watching my mother sew all her own clothes by using patterns that she altered because she never could find exactly what she wanted. I don't think I really appreciated what she did until much later when my college roommate amazed me by taking a vintage tablecloth and some old scarves and transformed them into a unique skirt (she went on to designs clothes in NYC for some pretty famous designers). Since that time, I always thought it would be amazing to be able to transform used clothing into something new and interesting! It also feeds my need to reduce, reuse, and recycle! Plus I'm also such a Project Runway junkie (especially the unconventional challenges) that I always thought I would eventually attempt to create upcycled wearable fashion. The only hurtle was that I am not much of a seamstress and lacked the technical skill to create what I wanted to create! So..... enter Butter (aka. Arlene) ..... "

Butter: The Butter part of ButterCatCo has been sewing and crafting since she was very young! She has made everything from doll clothes (mostly Barbie) and fake fur coats (one named Rufus), to curtains and backpacks and beyond! As a teen, she entered several sewing competitions sponsored by the American Wool Council, won district level and went to State Finals! She loves creating special items out of vintage fabrics or a loved one's clothing.
A finished project that touches a heart makes her happy!
She also likes to Knit and Crochet and Create Scrapbooks - digital and traditional. Someday, she'll get back to singing (that’s a whole other story!)!
